2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Could Get Wireless Android Auto And Apple CarPlay Soon | V3Cars
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the 2022 Baleno and while it’s very well equipped for a Maruti, it lacks wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, it will soon receive an update that would make its 9.0-inch head unit compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Read on to find out how.
At the launch event of the 2022 Baleno, Mr. CV Raman, the Chief Technical Officer of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that the Baleno could receive wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the near future through an OTA (over-the-air) update. The new Baleno gets built-in WiFi along with an e-sim for telematics that Maruti likes to call Suzuki Connect. The 9.0-inch head unit’s built-in WiFi makes it capable of receiving OTA updates.

Currently, the Baleno isn’t the only car in its segment to not have wireless connectivity. Other cars in this price range, read Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger, offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Some mid variants of the Hyundai i20 also offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay whereas the top-end trims with the 10.25-inch infotainment system lack that feature. Fortunately, the Baleno comes equipped with all the components that are needed for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

As we have highlighted wireless connectivity many times in this article, you should know why it is worth the praise. Wireless connectivity not only offers a hassle-free experience but also ensures a long life for your device. With a cable connection, your phone is being charged continuously while running Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. This increases the temperature of the device quite significantly, which is detrimental to the health of the device in the longer run.

I purchased top model of Baleno i.e., Baleno Alpha petrol thinking that there will be a good inbuilt Navigation system. But, after purchasing, got to know that I have to connect my mobile phone with data cable and set in details which is a very cumbersome process. At least it should be able to connect through Blue tooth (wireless). Again trying to connect to a smartphone for a music / songs is also not user friendly. The Navigation system in particular, should be atleast inbuilt or it should be activated with a pen drive kind of thing where it should be configured with a software/driver/connector and should be compatible with the car accessory. I am even ready to pay for this to have a hassle free operation.
@Amit Any idea when they will provide this update? I have top model AMT and I agree with Pravisini that its cumbersome and time consuming to connect to wire. Over the top of it, my wife has Android and I have apple which add to the work of keeping separate cords.
Thanks a lot for the update.. I got Alpha with MT. And am really crossing my fingers to have Wireless Carplay.. It is cumbersome to attach cable every time and launch things (though I understand, it will charge the phone simultaneously too).. But for quick things, wireless would be a wait-for feature. Any update on related news / post / Twitter handle about when they are giving the OTA update? By the way, anybody has updated with OTA ever? Just wanted to know the how-to-do it.
Overall I am satisfied with my new car's (Baleno 2022 Alpha MT) performance. But when it comes to infotainment, Android Auto is not working with my phone (One Plus 8), reported the same in first service. Checked the software version installed in it i.e Ver: 55TA.04.03 which is available in all other top variants. Escalated this issue with Maruti and Nexa dealership. Hope they solve it soon. Wireless is a must feature for this vehicle.
