2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift India Launch Delayed | V3Cars

Volkswagen showcased the 2021 Tiguan facelift in India in March 2021 and the SUV was expected to go on sale in May this year. However, the launch has now been delayed due to the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country and it is now expected to go on sale in June 2021. When launched, the Tiguan will make a comeback after almost a year since the pre-facelift model was discontinued in April 2020 due to the introduction of new BS6 emission norms.

Compared to the pre-facelift model, the updated SUV features updated aesthetics, added features and most important of all, a new engine under the hood.

The 2021 Tiguan facelift will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that makes 190PS and 320Nm mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic. It will also get VW’s 4Motion 4WD system that is already being offered on the Tiguan Allspace.

In terms of design, the new Tiguan features a sleeker triple slat grille flanked by updated new LED headlamps which are now slimmer. It also gets a new sporty and aggressive-looking front bumper. The side and rear profiles remain largely unchanged with mild updates in the form of a new set of alloys, mildly updated tail lamps, rear bumper and a new spaced ‘Tiguan’ lettering on the tailgate.

Coming to the interior, while the cabin layout remains unchanged, it gets a new steering wheel and an updated central console with touch-based controls for the climate control system. Features on offer include connected car tech, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, three-zone AC, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors and parking camera.

Volkswagen will slot the Tiguan above T-ROC in its SUV lineup. Prices are expected to range from Rs 28 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. It will take on likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the Citroen C5 Aircross.
