2023 Toyota Rumion Vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — Top Differences Explained
Toyota India recently launched the Rumion MPV and at the outset, it seems nothing but a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which it precisely is. But there are more details than what meets the eye. In this detailed comparison, we will compare the Toyota Rumion with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and find out if the Rumion is any better than its Maruti sibling. Read on to know the top differences between the Toyota Rumion and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Toyota Rumion Vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — Exterior Design And Dimension Differences
Before delving into the details, let’s address the things that do meet the eye. The Rumion offers a considerable amount of design changes at the front and side profiles. Starting with the front, it offers a larger grille with a honeycomb mesh finish along with the Toyota badge in the centre. It also gets a reprofiled bumper, which also boasts new housings for the fog lights. Around the side, the only change is the new design for the alloy wheels. At the rear, the Toyota and Rumion badge are the only two differences separating the Rumion from its Maruti sibling.
However, there is one small detail worth mentioning. While the Ertiga and Rumion do not have any change in terms of overall dimensions, the sportier bumper design of the Rumion gives it a few milimeters worth of extra length, making it exceed 4.4 metres. Hence, as per the internal classification of V3Cars, we consider it as a C2-segment MPV whereas the Ertiga belongs in the C1 segment. The rest of the dimensions of the Ertiga and Rumion are exactly the same.

Toyota Rumion Vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — Interior Design Differences
On the inside, there are no perceptible differences between the 2 models, save for the badge on the steering wheel. The unchanged upholstery choice shows how lazy of an attempt the Rumion is from Toyota to lure affordable family MPV buyers. Both the Ertiga and Rumion come with features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 airbags, paddle shifters, cooled cup holders, auto AC, and roof-mounted blower vents.
Toyota Rumion Vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — Variants And Price
While Maruti Suzuki offer the Ertiga in a total of 4 variants, Toyota offer the Rumion in 3 variants only. If we compare the features, the Rumion’s base S variant is equivalent to the Ertiga’s VXI variant and the remaining variants are equivalent to the remaining higher variants of the Ertiga. Both MPVs offer exactly the same set of features.

As you can see in the table above, Toyota India charge price premium of between Rs. 51,000 to Rs. 61,000 over the equivalent variants of the Ertiga MPV. Toyota decided to not offer the automatic transmission option with the second-top G variant, which is equivalent to the Ertiga’s ZXI variant. The Ertiga, on the other hand, offers the option of both manual and automatic transmission options with its ZXI variant.
Toyota Rumion Vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — Warranty Details
