Mahindra Scorpio-N Exterior Review – Design & Features

Exterior Front

The highlight of the Scorpio-N’s frontal design is its upright stance. The new Scorpio-N looks huge. The front grille has 6 slightly tilted vertical chrome slats, with chrome detailing atop them. The new twin-peak Mahindra logo sits at the centre of the grille, with a front parking camera placed just below it. There are also 4 parking sensors down on the bumper.

The Scorpio-N gets a boxy headlamp cluster with LED headlights. There are dynamic turn indicators placed at the bottom of the headlamp cluster. Below that sits the LED fog lamps, surrounded by LED DRLs, which mimic the tail of a scorpion. The brushed-aluminium finished skid plate sits below the large air dams.

Exterior Side

The black body cladding continues from the front to the side. It gets thicker around the doors and gets a silver finish to it. The Scorpio-N has huge wheel arches with 18-inch alloy wheels filling them. They give the Scorpio-N a strong side appearance. Other elements on the side include roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, chrome window line with Mahindra’s signature kink towards the rear, chrome door handles, large ORVMs, side steps and rear disc brakes.

The chrome window line, too, is designed to mimic the tail of a scorpion. The Scorpio-N retains the step-up roof from its predecessor, which allows stadium-like seating inside and helps provides ample headroom for rear passengers. The Scorpio-N has a ground clearance of 187mm.

Exterior Rear

The Scorpio-N has huge vertical taillights. Like the front, the rear too has dynamic swipe indicators. Carrying forward from the old Scorpio, the Scorpio-N gets side opening tailgate. It has a request sensor and hence, can be accessed keyless.

Talking about the space with all the three rows up, the Scorpio-N’s boot can carry a duffle or laptop bag. The third row of the Scorpio-N can be folded and tumbled forward to make more space in the boot. This way, we think the Scorpio-N’s boot can carry weekend luggage of 4-5 people. Other notable elements at the rear include the rear washer, wiper and chrome detailing on the bumper. The spare wheel can be accessed from outside, under the SUV.

Verdict - Mahindra Scorpio-N Exterior Review

Overall, the Scorpio-N looks huge and has an impressive road presence. It looks as imposing as SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The design of the Scorpio-N looks modern and upmarket from almost all angles. The new Scorpio-N looks more mature and sophisticated than the previous generation.
