2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire – Auto Expo Updates
Maruti Suzuki launched the Jimny and Fronx sub-compact, B2-segment SUVs at the Auto Expo 2023. Apart from these 2 SUVs, we expected Maruti Suzuki to showcase the next-generation Swift hatchback and the Dzire sub-compact sedan, at least in their concept form, at the Auto Expo. However, the carmaker unveiled the EVX electric SUV concept instead, conveying their commitment to green mobility and alternative propulsion technologies.
Instead of the next-gen Swift and Dzire, the carmaker showcased the upcoming Brezza CNG as well as Matte Editions of the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. They also showcased the Gold Edition of the Ciaz, among other cars from their current lineup.

Why Is The Swift And Dzire Missing From The Auto Expo?
To answer this question, let’s take a look at how long each generation of the Swift and Dzire were sold in the market before the next-generation came. The first generation Swift and Dzire served the Indian market for a duration of 7 years, while the second generation versions of each models were sold for a duration of 6 years. The current generation of the Swift and Dzire is currently around 5-years-old. Hence, there is still some time to go before the next generation arrives in our market.

As Maruti unveiled the EVX concept and launched the Jimny and the Fronx at the 2023 Auto Expo, the carmaker may have decided not to unveil the Swift and Dzire as they could have potentially stolen the limelight from the Maruti SUVs. Bookings for both the Fronx and the Jimny are currently open and Maruti will soon launch the Brezza CNG as well. Hence, the carmaker already has a lot on its plate for the first half of 2023.

We believe Maruti Suzuki will showcase the Swift and Dzire once the buzz around the Jimny and Fronx dies down. As for the EVX, the concept is far away from hitting the production line. Like with the third generation Swift and Dzire, we expect Maurti Suzuki to launch the sub-compact Dzire sedan ahead of the Swift hatchback as the sub-4 metre sedan segment is a hotly contested one and Maurti does not have any other product in this segment. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki have the Ignis to give other B1-segment hatchbacks a run for their money while the carmaker prepares the next-gen Swift for production.
